About the Role

Little & Wise is seeking a thoughtful, experienced Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT) to lead a small-group homeschool enrichment program for children ages 4–6.

This is a unique opportunity to guide a carefully designed program that blends:

• Ontario Kindergarten Curriculum expectations
• Montessori-inspired methods
• STEM-based, inquiry-driven learning

You will be working with a consistent group of approximately 6-8 students in a calm, structured, and hands-on learning environment, with parents present on-site.

Program Approach

This is a guided, teacher-led environment where students are supported, challenged, and engaged at their level.

The Ideal Educator

• OCT certified (in good standing preferred)
• Experience teaching JK/SK or early primary students
• Strong understanding of early literacy and numeracy development
• Comfortable working with mixed-age groups (ages 4–6)
• Values Montessori-inspired, hands-on learning approaches
• Confident in differentiating instruction in real time
• Calm, organized, and intentional in their teaching style
• Communicates clearly and professionally with families
• Interested in contributing to a thoughtfully built program

Responsibilities

• Lead 2-hour small-group sessions twice weekly
• Deliver structured, engaging lessons aligned with program goals
• Differentiate instruction to support varying skill levels within the group
• Guide literacy, numeracy, and STEM-based inquiry activities
• Prepare weekly lesson flow and learning materials
• Set up and maintain a prepared, organized learning environment
• Observe, assess, and track student progress through informal methods
• Support positive peer interaction and collaborative learning
• Maintain a calm, respectful, and purposeful classroom atmosphere

Teaching Assistant / Substitute Educator

We are seeking a nurturing, dependable, and attentive Assistant / Substitute Educator to support program days and provide continuity of care when needed.

This role supports the lead teacher during sessions and may also step in as a substitute educator when the lead teacher is unavailable.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Experience working with young children (ages 4–6 preferred)

  • ECE background or education-related studies considered an asset

  • Warm, calm, and attentive presence with children

  • Comfortable supporting small-group learning environments

  • Observant, proactive, and adaptable

  • Reliable and flexible with scheduling

Responsibilities

  • Support the lead teacher throughout program sessions

  • Assist with classroom setup, transitions, and material organization

  • Provide gentle guidance and supervision during learning activities

  • Help maintain a calm and organized learning environment

  • Step in as a substitute educator when required

  • Support younger siblings who may attend alongside enrolled students, ensuring the learning environment remains focused and uninterrupted
